4K vs Alumawood

This picture shows the difference in 4K vs. Alumawood support beam’s thickness. A picture is worth a thousand words. You can clearly see in this photo that 4K has a much thicker product because every piece is extruded. This give 4K the ability to do things that Alumawood can not.

This is not here to discount Alumawood quality and appeal – some people are surprised at the price difference. Alumawood is a thinner material that will yield you a lower cost per square foot. There will be pros and cons to each product.

Alumawood and 4K Aluminum differ in material composition and durability:

  •  Alumawood: Made from roll-formed aluminum alloy 3105, it is thinner (0.018–0.036 inches) and embossed with a wood-grain finish. It mimics wood aesthetics, resists rot and termites, but is less durable and prone to dents
  •  4K Aluminum: Crafted from thicker extruded aluminum (0.048–0.078 inches), often 6061 T6 aircraft-grade alloy, it offers superior strength, durability, and larger structural spans with fewer supports. It features a gold chromate primer and powder coating for enhanced longevity
